NewsLetter From The President:
Dear Dance COLEctive friends and supporters,
This March we marked the 13th anniversary of The Dance COLEctive and it has us reflecting on the year and preparing for upcoming events and performances. The continued success of the company is because of YOUR support, so I want to thank our friends and sponsors for bringing us to a 13th year of activities.
We’ve been creating, performing, and collaborating in new works. At the Other Dance Festival, the company presented “Wise Women Don’t Love” by Colleen Halloran. During TDC's annual concert, "13" at The Ruth Page Center, the company performed several new works. "13" was created by Margi Cole and the concert featured a new solo for her by Liz Burritt. “Supergirl” marked Margi’s recovery from knee surgery last year. These collaborations helped make the concert a huge success. Thank you to our guest artists and all who attended!
The TDC bowling FUNdraiser was held in November at the 10pin Lounge and our theme was ‘Black and White’. TDC was thrilled to see so many friendly faces! Thank you again to all those who helped on the bowling committee, helped sponsor the event and to those came out to bowl, your support made the event happen.
TDC will hold its annual Summer Workshop at the Drucker Center August 3rd-7th with a company audition on August 8th. Contact administration@dancecolective.com to reserve your space. We limit participation to 16 and places are filling up fast! Our new season holds many exciting events and performances. The company has been working on a new piece in collaboration with Jeff Hancock that will be premiered in excerpt at The Other Dance Festival this September and fully premiered at the Ruth Page Concert in January 2010. In the fall, TDC will participate in several site-specific performances around the city funded by The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation. In addition, the company will be presenting its annual concert at Ruth Page January 28-30, 2010 and a concert at Links Hall in May 2010 that will present several new works. Keep your eyes peeled for performances and keep checking the performance calendar and upcoming events section on our new website for all current details.
TDC welcomed Terra Koehler, Olivia May, Molly Schneider Perez, and Summer Breal, three new company members and one new apprentice dancer. This makes the company the largest it has ever been and we are excited to have them working with us and we welcome them!
I look forward to our ongoing success as TDC continues to grow. To all our friends, patrons, and members of the board, I express my thanks and appreciation for your continued support.
Have a great summer!
William Cellini Jr.
President of the Board, TDC
